IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FOLKING ROCK. RICEMAGNET was formed in 1999 in Canada and is presently based in Taipei and Hong Kong. Crossing continents, the band's sound has been accordingly influenced by a range of alternative/indie/rock artists, with the resulting sound a blend of Red Hot Chili Peppers meets Wu Bai & China Blue. RICEMAGNET consists of Yi-Ching Chung on guitar and lead vocals and David Ma on guitar, bass and vocals, both of whom have extensive performing experience. The band has performed in a number of established indie music venues in both Taipei and Hong Kong, including The UnderWorld, The Living Room and The Riverside in Taipei, and the Fringe Club, The Wanch, The Cavern, Peel Fresco Music Lounge, joyce is not here, MegaBox, TST Gateway and Le Rideau in Hong Kong.
LATEST NEWS. - RICEMAGNET was invited to play at the Fringe Club's City Festival, January 2010. - RICEMAGNET played its first gigs in Singapore, at the Blu Jaz Cafe, Saturday 4 July 2009, and in Seoul, at Roofers, Itaewon, Thursday 27 August 2009. -RICEMAGNET made it into the FINALS of the Hong Kong heats of Global Battle of the Bands when they competed at Club Cixi on Friday 3 October 2008. The videos of "Parting" and "Let You Know" are now on YouTube.
